The Senedd. What is it? Where is it ? And why is it considered as one of Wales’ most important buildings?

Meg, the Chief Security Officer at the Senedd, will take you on an imaginary journey to Cardiff Bay. With Meg’s help, we’ll explore a plethora of terms that shape our daily lives – Devolution; Assembly; Election and Manifesto. We will investigate what’s important in the children’s lives. And who will win the fake election ?

A lively show, suitable for years 5,6,7 and 8, that gives young people the opportunity to discover what is the Senedd, who is the Assembly and how it all comes together to ensure that every single one of us has a voice.

We booked the character at the end of our Celts topic. Next time I will make sure to book it at the start of our topic, as the children loved it and it would have been a great way to engage them to begin learning about the Celts and Boudicca.

We can’t think of a better way to bring such an important historical character, as Mari Jones, to life in the children’s imagination. The performance was excellent, and all the children loved the interaction. This is the second show by ‘Mewn Cymeriad/In Character’ we’ve seen and enjoyed, and the standard once again is high. Our pupils are enthusiastic to learn about the Welsh hero Owain Glyndŵr, and already know quite a bit about him. However, to have him come to our school, telling us his story in his own words, was just amazing. He came alive in front of their eyes, and they became part of his incredible story. They felt empathy towards him and his cause, and he became their hero as they came to understand his efforts and sacrifice. We also learnt a lot about the period in history, and we love how the session gives the children different roles, portraying other key characters in Owain Glyndŵr’s life. There is no doubt that there is a much better chance that they will remember the story because of the roles they played. Thank you for preparing and presenting such a valuable resource, enabling children to learn about their own history. They are proud to call themselves Welsh – we can’t ask for more than that.
